Solution
1. Preparation
  • Tools Required: Socket set, screwdrivers, throttle body cleaner, clean rags, safety goggles, gloves.
  • Park the vehicle on a flat surface and ensure the engine is cool.
  • Disconnect the negative terminal of the battery to prevent electrical shorts.
2. Remove Air Intake Hose
  • Locate the air intake hose connected to the throttle body.
  • Use a screwdriver or socket to loosen the hose clamps.
  • Carefully detach the hose and set it aside.
3. Disconnect Throttle Body Electrical Connector
  • Identify the electrical connector on the throttle body.
  • Press the release tab and gently pull the connector off to disconnect it.
4. Remove Throttle Body
  • Using the socket set, remove the bolts securing the throttle body to the intake manifold.
  • Carefully lift the throttle body off the manifold and place it on a clean work surface.
  • Ensure the gasket remains intact; replace if damaged.
5. Clean Throttle Body
  • Spray throttle body cleaner onto the throttle plate and surrounding areas.
  • Use a clean rag or soft brush to scrub away carbon deposits and dirt.
  • Ensure the throttle plate operates smoothly by opening and closing it manually.
  • Wipe all surfaces clean and allow it to dry thoroughly.
6. Reinstall Throttle Body
  • Position the cleaned throttle body back onto the intake manifold.
  • Secure it using the previously removed bolts. Torque to manufacturer specifications (usually around 89 in-lbs, but check if available).
  • Reconnect the electrical connector until it clicks into place.
7. Reattach Air Intake Hose
  • Reconnect the air intake hose to the throttle body and secure with the hose clamps.
8. Reconnect Battery and Test
  • Reconnect the negative terminal of the battery.
  • Start the engine and allow it to idle. Check for proper operation and any leaks.
