Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather tools: OBD-II scanner, socket set, oil pressure gauge, oil filter wrench, and safety glasses.
  • Park the vehicle on a level surface and engage the parking brake.
  • Allow the engine to cool, then disconnect the battery.
2. Check and Top Off Engine Oil
  • Remove the dipstick and wipe it clean with a lint-free cloth.
  • Reinsert the dipstick fully and remove it again to check the oil level.
  • If low, add the appropriate type and viscosity of oil as specified in the owner’s manual to bring the level up to the full mark.
3. Replace Oil Filter (if necessary)
  • Place an oil catch pan under the oil filter to catch any oil that may spill.
  • Use the oil filter wrench to remove the old oil filter, ensuring the rubber O-ring comes off with it.
  • Apply a thin layer of new oil to the rubber O-ring of the new filter.
  • Install the new oil filter by hand until snug, then tighten it an additional 3/4 turn.
4. Test Oil Pressure
  • Locate the oil pressure sending unit, usually near the oil filter.
  • Remove the sending unit and install the external oil pressure gauge.
  • Start the engine and observe the gauge reading; it should meet the manufacturer's specified pressure. If the pressure is low, further investigation into the oil pump or engine internals may be necessary.
5. Reassemble and Clean Up
  • If all repairs are complete, reinstall the oil pressure sending unit (if removed).
  • Reconnect the battery.
  • Start the engine and monitor for any leaks or warning lights.
  • Dispose of old oil and filter properly.
