Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather all necessary tools and parts.
  • Ensure the vehicle is parked on a flat surface and the parking brake is engaged.
  • Disconnect the battery if working near electrical components.
2. Lift the Vehicle
  • Use a hydraulic jack to lift the front of the vehicle.
  • Secure it with jack stands for safety.
3. Remove the Wheel
  • Use a socket set to remove the lug nuts and take off the front wheel.
  • Place the wheel in a safe location.
4. Remove the Tie Rod End
  • Locate the tie rod end connected to the steering knuckle.
  • Use a wrench to remove the nut securing it to the knuckle.
  • Tap the knuckle gently with a hammer to free the tie rod end from the knuckle.
  • Disconnect the tie rod end from the steering rack by removing the securing nut.
5. Install New Tie Rod End
  • Position the new tie rod end in place and reconnect it to the steering rack.
  • Secure it with the nut, tightening to the manufacturer's specified torque (typically around 30-40 ft-lbs).
  • Reconnect the tie rod end to the steering knuckle and secure with the nut, also tightening to the specified torque.
6. Reassemble and Lower the Vehicle
  • Reinstall the wheel and hand-tighten the lug nuts.
  • Lower the vehicle and then fully tighten the lug nuts to the manufacturer's torque specification (usually around 80-100 ft-lbs).
7. Alignment Check
  • After replacing the tie rod ends, have the vehicle's alignment checked and adjusted as necessary.
