Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather necessary tools and parts.
  • Ensure the vehicle is parked on a level surface and set the parking brake.
  • Disconnect the negative battery terminal.
2. Inspect Brake Fluid
  • Open the hood and locate the brake master cylinder.
  • Remove the cap and check the brake fluid level; if low, top off with the recommended fluid (DOT 3 or DOT 4).
  • Inspect for any leaks around the master cylinder.
3. Check Brake Booster
  • Locate the brake booster and its vacuum hose.
  • Disconnect the vacuum hose from the brake booster.
  • Use a vacuum gauge to apply vacuum to the booster; it should hold vacuum without dropping significantly.
  • If it fails to hold vacuum, replace the brake booster.
4. Inspect Brake Booster Vacuum Hose
  • Examine the vacuum hose for cracks, leaks, or blockages.
  • Replace any damaged components.
  • Reconnect the hose securely to the brake booster.
5. Bleed Brake Lines
  • Start at the wheel farthest from the master cylinder and bleed the brakes using a helper to pump the brake pedal.
  • Continue bleeding until no air bubbles are present in the fluid.
  • Repeat the process for each wheel in order: rear passenger, rear driver, front passenger, and front driver.
6. Reassemble and Test
  • Reconnect the negative battery terminal.
  • Test the brake pedal feel by pressing it several times before starting the vehicle.
  • Start the engine and check for proper brake operation.
