Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather necessary tools and materials.
  • Park the vehicle on a level surface and engage the parking brake.
  • Disconnect the battery for safety.
2. Change the Engine Oil
  1. Drain the Old Oil

    • Locate the oil drain plug underneath the vehicle.
    • Use a socket set to remove the drain plug and allow the old oil to drain completely into a suitable container.
    • Reinstall the drain plug and torque it to the manufacturer’s specification (typically around 25-30 ft-lbs).
  2. Replace the Oil Filter

    • Locate the oil filter, which is typically on the lower side of the engine.
    • Use an oil filter wrench to remove the old oil filter.
    • Apply a small amount of new oil to the rubber gasket of the new filter, then install it by hand until snug.
    • Tighten the filter an additional 3/4 turn.
  3. Add New Oil

    • Remove the oil filler cap on top of the engine.
    • Use a funnel to add the recommended type and amount of new oil (typically 0W-20 for the Highlander).
    • Replace the oil filler cap securely.
3. Reset the Oil Change Light
  1. Turn the ignition to the "ON" position without starting the engine.
  2. Press the gas pedal three times within five seconds.
  3. Turn the ignition off, then turn it back on to verify the light is off.
