Solution
1. Preparation
  • Tools Required: Jack, jack stands, socket set, torque wrench, strut spring compressor (if replacing struts).
  • Safety Warnings: Ensure the vehicle is on a level surface and securely supported by jack stands before beginning work.
2. Remove Wheel
  • Loosen lug nuts on the wheel where the strut will be replaced.
  • Lift the vehicle with a jack and secure it on jack stands.
  • Remove the lug nuts and take off the wheel to access the strut.
3. Disconnect Strut Assembly
  • Locate the upper strut mounting bolts and remove them using a socket set.
  • If applicable, disconnect any components attached to the strut (e.g., brake lines or sway bar links) to free the strut assembly from the vehicle.
4. Remove Strut
  • Once everything is disconnected, remove the lower strut mounting bolts.
  • Carefully pull the strut assembly out of the vehicle.
5. Replace or Repair
  • If only the strut is being replaced, use a strut spring compressor to safely compress the spring on the old strut, then transfer the spring to the new strut.
  • Reassemble the strut with the new components if needed (e.g., new strut mounts or bump stops).
6. Reinstall Strut Assembly
  • Insert the new or repaired strut into the vehicle, aligning it with the mounting points.
  • Reattach the lower and upper mounting bolts, tightening them to the manufacturer’s specified torque.
7. Reinstall Wheel
  • Place the wheel back on and hand-tighten the lug nuts.
  • Lower the vehicle off the jack stands and then fully tighten the lug nuts to the specified torque.
