Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather all necessary tools and parts.
  • Ensure the vehicle is parked on a level surface and the engine is off.
  • Disconnect the negative battery terminal to prevent electrical shorts.

Tools Required:

  • Socket set
  • Screwdriver set (flathead and Phillips)
  • Throttle body cleaner
  • Clean cloths or rags
  • Safety goggles and gloves
2. Remove the Air Intake Hose
  • Locate the air intake hose connected to the throttle body.
  • Use a screwdriver or socket to loosen the clamps on both ends of the hose.
  • Carefully detach the hose from the throttle body and the air filter box.
3. Remove the Throttle Body
  • Identify the throttle body mounting bolts (usually 2-4 bolts).
  • Using the socket set, remove the bolts securing the throttle body to the intake manifold.
  • Gently pull the throttle body away from the manifold, being cautious of any attached sensors and wiring harnesses.
4. Clean the Throttle Body
  • Spray throttle body cleaner onto the inside of the throttle body, especially around the throttle plate and intake passages.
  • Use a clean cloth to wipe away carbon deposits and dirt. Be gentle to avoid damaging the throttle plate.
  • Ensure that no cleaner drips into the intake manifold.
5. Reinstall the Throttle Body
  • Position the throttle body back onto the intake manifold.
  • Secure it with the mounting bolts, tightening them to the manufacturer’s torque specifications (usually around 89 in-lbs).
  • Reattach the air intake hose and tighten the clamps securely.
6. Reconnect the Battery
  • Reconnect the negative battery terminal and ensure it is tight.
