Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather tools and parts required for the repair.
  • Ensure the vehicle is on a flat surface and engage the parking brake.
  • Wear safety glasses and gloves.
2. Inspect and Replace Brake Fluid
  • Tools Required: Brake fluid, funnel, rags
  • Inspect the brake fluid for contamination or low levels.
  • If low, add the appropriate type of brake fluid (DOT 3 or DOT 4) until it reaches the recommended level.
  • If contaminated, proceed to flush the brake system.
3. Check and Replace Brake Booster
  • Tools Required: Socket set, wrenches, vacuum gauge (optional)
  • Disconnect the negative battery terminal.
  • Remove the vacuum hose connected to the brake booster.
  • Unbolt the brake booster from the mounting points on the firewall.
  • Carefully remove the brake booster and replace it with a new one.
  • Reconnect all associated components including the vacuum hose and bolt it back to the firewall.
4. Bleed Brake System
  • Tools Required: Brake bleeder kit, assistant (optional)
  • Begin at the farthest wheel from the master cylinder (usually the rear passenger side).
  • Open the bleeder valve, have an assistant press the brake pedal, and check for fluid flow until clear fluid comes out.
  • Close the valve and repeat for all wheels until the fluid is clear and free of air bubbles.
