Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather the necessary tools and parts.
  • Disconnect the vehicle's battery to avoid any electrical issues during repair.
2. Replace Cabin Air Filter
  • Tools Required: Screwdriver, new cabin air filter
  • Locate the cabin air filter housing (usually under the glove box).
  • Remove the screws or clips securing the housing cover.
  • Pull out the old cabin air filter and inspect for contamination.
  • Insert the new cabin air filter ensuring it is oriented correctly.
  • Reattach the housing cover and secure it with screws or clips.
3. Clean HVAC System
  • Tools Required: HVAC cleaning solution, spray nozzle
  • Remove the cabin air filter (if not done in the previous step).
  • Spray the HVAC cleaning solution into the air intake located at the base of the windshield.
  • Run the HVAC system on high for about 10 minutes to circulate the cleaner through the system.
  • Allow the system to air out for a few hours before reinstalling the cabin air filter.
4. Inspect and Clear Drain Tube
  • Tools Required: Flexible wire or pipe cleaner
  • Locate the drain tube for the evaporator (usually located under the vehicle).
  • Use a flexible wire or pipe cleaner to gently clear any blockages.
  • Check for proper drainage by pouring a small amount of water into the evaporator case and ensuring it drains out.
