Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather all necessary tools and parts.
  • Park the vehicle on a flat surface and engage the parking brake.
  • Wear safety glasses and gloves.
2. Remove the Old Shocks/Struts
  • Tools Required: Socket set, wrench set, strut spring compressor (if replacing struts), jack, jack stands.
  • Loosen the lug nuts on the wheels where shocks/struts will be replaced.
  • Lift the vehicle with a jack and secure it with jack stands.
  • Remove the wheels to access the shocks/struts.
  • For struts: Use a strut spring compressor to safely compress the spring, then remove the strut assembly from the vehicle.
  • Unbolt the upper and lower mounting points of the shock/strut using the socket and wrench.
  • Carefully remove the shock/strut from the vehicle.
3. Install New Shocks/Struts
  • Tools Required: Torque wrench.
  • Place the new shock/strut into position.
  • Secure it by tightening the upper and lower mounting bolts to the manufacturer’s specified torque settings (check service manual for exact values).
  • For struts: Reinstall the spring and ensure it is properly seated.
  • Reattach the wheels and lower the vehicle back to the ground.
4. Final Checks
  • Inspect all connections to ensure everything is tight and secure.
  • Recheck the vehicle height and alignment after installation.
