Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather necessary tools and materials.
  • Tools Required:
    • Funnel (if necessary)
    • Clean cloth or paper towel
    • Safety gloves
    • Rags for cleaning up spills
2. Check Fluid Level
  • If your Highlander has a dipstick:
    1. Remove the dipstick from the transmission tube.
    2. Wipe the dipstick clean with a cloth.
    3. Reinsert the dipstick fully back into the tube.
    4. Remove the dipstick again and check the fluid level against the markings (Hot or Cold).
  • If your Highlander does not have a dipstick:
    1. Locate the fill plug on the side of the transmission case.
    2. Using a wrench, carefully remove the fill plug.
    3. Insert a clean finger into the fill hole; the fluid should be level with the bottom of the fill hole.
    4. If fluid drips out, the level is sufficient. If not, add transmission fluid as needed.
3. Adding Fluid (if necessary)
  1. If the fluid level is low, use a funnel to add the recommended type of transmission fluid.
  2. Check your owner’s manual for the specific type and specification of transmission fluid required.
  3. Add fluid gradually, checking the level frequently to avoid overfilling.
