Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather necessary tools and parts.
  • Ensure the vehicle is parked on a level surface, and the engine is off.
  • Disconnect the negative battery terminal to avoid electrical issues.
2. Inspect and Refill Power Steering Fluid
  • Locate the power steering fluid reservoir.
  • Remove the cap and check the fluid level; if low, top it off with the manufacturer-recommended power steering fluid.
  • Check the fluid condition; if dark or contaminated, proceed to fluid replacement.
3. Replace Power Steering Fluid (if necessary)
  • Place a drain pan under the power steering rack.
  • Disconnect the return line from the power steering pump.
  • Allow old fluid to drain completely, and then reconnect the line.
  • Fill the reservoir with new power steering fluid, then start the engine and turn the steering wheel from lock to lock to bleed air from the system.
4. Inspect and Replace Power Steering Pump (if required)
  • Remove the serpentine belt by loosening the tensioner.
  • Disconnect the power steering pump from the mounting bracket.
  • Remove the inlet and outlet hoses from the pump.
  • Install the new power steering pump and connect the hoses.
  • Reattach the serpentine belt, ensuring proper alignment.
5. Check and Replace Serpentine Belt (if worn)
  • Inspect the belt for cracks, fraying, or glazing.
  • If damaged, remove the old belt and install a new one, following the belt routing diagram located under the hood.
