Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather the following tools and materials:
    • Oil filter wrench
    • Socket set
    • Oil drain pan
    • Funnel
    • New oil filter
    • New engine oil (5W-20 or as specified)
    • Rags or paper towels
  • Ensure the vehicle is parked on a level surface and the engine is off and cool.
2. Lift the Vehicle
  • If necessary, use a jack to lift the vehicle and secure it on jack stands for better access to the underside.
  • Safety Warning: Ensure the vehicle is stable before working underneath.
3. Drain the Old Oil
  • Position the oil drain pan under the oil pan.
  • Remove the drain plug using a socket wrench; allow the old oil to completely drain into the pan.
  • Once drained, replace the drain plug and tighten it to the manufacturer's specified torque (typically around 30 ft-lbs).
4. Replace the Oil Filter
  • Use the oil filter wrench to remove the old oil filter. Be cautious as it may contain residual oil.
  • Apply a small amount of new oil to the rubber gasket of the new filter.
  • Install the new oil filter by hand, turning until it is snug (do not overtighten).
5. Add New Engine Oil
  • Remove the oil filler cap on top of the engine.
  • Using a funnel, pour in the new engine oil. The capacity is typically around 6-7 quarts (check the owner’s manual for exact specifications).
  • Replace the oil filler cap securely.
6. Check Oil Level
  • Start the engine and let it run for a few minutes.
  • Turn off the engine and wait for a few minutes before checking the oil level with the dipstick.
  • Add more oil if necessary to reach the proper level.
