Solution
1. Preparation
  • Tools Required: Spark plug socket, ratchet wrench, torque wrench, gap gauge, extension bar, dielectric grease.
  • Ensure the engine is cool before starting the work to prevent burns.
  • Disconnect the negative terminal of the battery to avoid electrical shorts.
2. Remove Ignition Coils
  1. Carefully disconnect the electrical connector from each ignition coil.
  2. Remove the bolts securing the ignition coils using a ratchet wrench.
  3. Gently pull the ignition coils out of their respective cylinders.
3. Remove Old Spark Plugs
  1. Use a spark plug socket and extension bar to loosen and remove the old spark plugs by turning counterclockwise.
  2. Carefully extract the old spark plugs from the cylinder head.
4. Install New Spark Plugs
  1. Check the gap on the new spark plugs using a gap gauge; adjust to the manufacturer's specification if necessary.
  2. Apply a small amount of dielectric grease on the threads of the new spark plugs to aid in installation.
  3. Carefully insert the new spark plugs into the cylinder head and hand-tighten them.
  4. Use a torque wrench to tighten the spark plugs to the manufacturer’s specifications (typically around 13-15 lb-ft).
5. Reinstall Ignition Coils
  1. Position each ignition coil back into its cylinder, ensuring a snug fit.
  2. Secure each ignition coil with bolts and reconnect the electrical connectors.
6. Reconnect Battery
  • Reconnect the negative terminal of the battery.
