Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather all tools and parts needed for the replacement.
  • Disconnect the negative terminal of the battery to prevent electrical shock.
  • Relieve fuel system pressure by removing the fuel pump relay and starting the engine until it stalls.
2. Remove the Fuel Pump Assembly
  • Tools Required: Socket set, screwdriver, fuel line removal tool, safety glasses, gloves.
  • Remove the rear seat cushion to access the fuel pump access panel.
  • Remove the access panel screws and lift the panel to expose the fuel pump assembly.
  • Disconnect the electrical connector from the fuel pump and carefully detach the fuel lines using a fuel line removal tool.
  • Unscrew the retaining ring that holds the fuel pump assembly in place and lift the assembly out of the tank.
3. Replace the Fuel Pump
  • Remove the old fuel pump from the assembly by unclipping it from the mounting bracket.
  • Install the new fuel pump into the assembly, ensuring all O-rings and seals are properly seated.
  • Reattach any necessary components such as the fuel level sender or filter.
4. Reinstall the Fuel Pump Assembly
  • Insert the fuel pump assembly back into the fuel tank and secure it with the retaining ring.
  • Reconnect the fuel lines and electrical connector, ensuring they are secure.
  • Replace the access panel and secure it with screws.
  • Reinstall the rear seat cushion.
5. Final Setup
  • Reconnect the negative terminal of the battery.
  • Turn the ignition to the "ON" position for a few seconds to prime the fuel system, then check for leaks.
  • Start the engine and allow it to idle, monitoring for any irregularities.
