Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather tools and parts required.
  • Ensure the vehicle is parked on a level surface and the engine is off.
  • Disconnect the negative battery terminal to prevent any electrical accidents.
2. Access the Fuel Pump
  • Tools Required: Socket set, screwdrivers, fuel line disconnect tool, jack and jack stands.
  • Raise the rear of the vehicle using a jack and secure it with jack stands.
  • Remove the rear seat or access panel in the trunk to reach the fuel pump access cover.
  • Unbolt and remove the fuel pump access cover.
3. Disconnect Fuel Lines and Electrical Connectors
  • Use a fuel line disconnect tool to relieve pressure and disconnect the fuel lines from the pump.
  • Carefully disconnect the electrical connector from the fuel pump.
4. Remove the Old Fuel Pump
  • Unbolt the fuel pump assembly from the fuel tank.
  • Carefully lift the fuel pump assembly out of the tank, ensuring the fuel level sender remains attached.
5. Install the New Fuel Pump
  • Place the new fuel pump into the fuel tank, ensuring that it fits securely.
  • Reattach the fuel pump assembly using the previously removed bolts.
  • Reconnect the fuel lines and electrical connector to the new pump.
6. Reassemble and Test
  • Reinstall the fuel pump access cover and secure it.
  • Reconnect the negative battery terminal.
  • Turn the ignition to the ON position (without starting) to prime the fuel system and check for leaks.
  • Start the engine to verify proper operation and listen for normal fuel pump sounds.
