Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather necessary tools and parts.
  • Disconnect the battery to ensure safety while working on electrical components.
2. Remove Engine Cover
  • Use a socket set to remove bolts securing the engine cover.
  • Gently lift off the engine cover and set it aside.
3. Remove Spark Plugs
  • Locate the ignition coils on top of the spark plugs.
  • Unscrew the bolts or clips securing the ignition coils using a socket wrench.
  • Carefully pull the ignition coils straight out to avoid damaging the connectors.
  • Use a spark plug socket and ratchet to loosen and remove the spark plugs from the cylinder head.
4. Inspect and Replace Spark Plugs
  • Examine the removed spark plugs for signs of wear or fouling.
  • If replacement is necessary, install new spark plugs. Ensure the spark plug gap is set to 0.043 inches (1.1 mm) as per manufacturer specifications.
  • Torque the new spark plugs to 13 lb-ft (18 Nm) using a torque wrench.
5. Reinstall Components
  • Place the ignition coils back onto the new spark plugs.
  • Secure the ignition coils with their respective bolts or clips.
  • Reinstall the engine cover and tighten the bolts securely.
6. Reconnect Battery and Test
  • Reconnect the battery terminals.
  • Start the engine and listen for smooth operation.
  • Conduct a test drive to confirm that symptoms have been resolved.
