Solution
1. Preparation
  • Tools Required: Jack, jack stands, lug wrench, pry bar, socket set, torque wrench.
  • Ensure that the vehicle is on a flat surface and the parking brake is engaged.
2. Remove Wheel
  1. Loosen the lug nuts on the front wheel using a lug wrench.
  2. Lift the vehicle with a jack and secure it with jack stands.
  3. Remove the lug nuts completely and take off the wheel.
3. Remove Ball Joint
  1. Locate the ball joint at the bottom of the control arm.
  2. Remove the nut securing the ball joint to the steering knuckle using a socket.
  3. Use a ball joint separator or a hammer to free the ball joint from the knuckle.
  4. Remove the bolts securing the ball joint to the control arm and take out the ball joint.
4. Install New Ball Joint
  1. Position the new ball joint in the control arm.
  2. Secure it using the appropriate bolts and torque to manufacturer specifications (check service manual for exact torque values).
  3. Reconnect the ball joint to the steering knuckle and secure with the nut, torquing to specification.
5. Reassemble
  1. Reinstall the wheel and hand-tighten the lug nuts.
  2. Lower the vehicle off the jack stands.
  3. Tighten the lug nuts to the manufacturer’s specifications in a crisscross pattern.
