Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather all necessary tools and parts.
  • Disconnect the negative battery terminal to avoid electrical shorts.
2. Remove Engine Cover
  • Sub-steps:
    1. Locate the engine cover and remove any bolts using a socket set.
    2. Carefully lift off the engine cover and set it aside.
3. Access Spark Plugs
  • Sub-steps:
    1. Identify the ignition coils on top of the spark plugs.
    2. Disconnect the electrical connectors from each ignition coil.
    3. Remove the bolts securing the ignition coils using a socket set.
    4. Gently pull out the ignition coils from the spark plug wells.
4. Remove Spark Plugs
  • Sub-steps:
    1. Use a spark plug socket and ratchet to carefully unscrew each spark plug.
    2. Lift the spark plugs out of the cylinder head.
5. Install New Spark Plugs
  • Sub-steps:
    1. Apply a small amount of anti-seize compound to the threads of the new spark plugs (optional).
    2. Hand-thread the new spark plugs into the cylinder head.
    3. Tighten to the manufacturer-specified torque (typically around 13 lb-ft for Toyota) using a torque wrench.
6. Reassemble Ignition Coils and Engine Cover
  • Sub-steps:
    1. Reinsert the ignition coils and secure them with bolts.
    2. Reconnect the electrical connectors to each ignition coil.
    3. Place the engine cover back on and secure it with bolts.
7. Reconnect Battery
  • Reconnect the negative battery terminal.
