Solution
1. Preparation
  • Ensure the vehicle is parked on a flat, stable surface away from traffic.
  • Engage the parking brake to prevent movement.
  • Gather tools: jack, lug wrench, and spare tire.
2. Loosen Lug Nuts
  • Using the lug wrench, turn the lug nuts counterclockwise to loosen them while the tire is still on the ground. Do not remove them completely yet.
  • Loosen each lug nut a full turn or two.
3. Lift the Vehicle
  • Place the jack under the vehicle's designated jacking point (refer to the owner's manual for the specific location).
  • Raise the vehicle until the tire is off the ground, ensuring it is stable before proceeding.
4. Remove the Flat Tire
  • Remove the loosened lug nuts completely and set them aside in a safe location.
  • Carefully pull the flat tire straight off the wheel hub and set it aside.
5. Install the Spare Tire
  • Align the spare tire with the wheel hub and push it onto the hub until it is flush.
  • Hand-tighten the lug nuts onto the wheel studs to secure the spare tire in place.
6. Lower the Vehicle
  • Carefully lower the vehicle back to the ground using the jack.
  • Once the vehicle is fully on the ground, remove the jack.
7. Tighten Lug Nuts
  • Using the lug wrench, tighten the lug nuts in a crisscross pattern to ensure even pressure.
  • Refer to the torque specifications in the owner's manual (typically 76 ft-lbs for the Camry).
