Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather necessary tools and parts.
  • Ensure the vehicle is on a flat surface and engage the parking brake.
  • Disconnect the battery to prevent electrical shorts during repairs.
2. Replace Spark Plugs and Ignition Coils
  • Tools Required: Socket set, torque wrench, dielectric grease.
  • Remove the ignition coil cover by unscrewing it.
  • Disconnect the electrical connectors from the ignition coils.
  • Unscrew and remove the ignition coils from the spark plugs.
  • Remove old spark plugs using a spark plug socket and inspect for wear.
  • Install new spark plugs, ensuring they are torqued to manufacturer specifications (usually around 13-15 ft-lbs).
  • Apply dielectric grease to the terminals of new ignition coils before installation.
  • Reinstall the ignition coils and cover.
3. Clean Throttle Body
  • Tools Required: Throttle body cleaner, soft cloth, screwdriver set.
  • Disconnect the air intake duct from the throttle body.
  • Spray throttle body cleaner inside the throttle body and clean with a soft cloth.
  • Open the throttle plate manually to clean the inside and edges.
  • Reconnect the air intake duct securely.
4. Inspect and Clean MAF Sensor
  • Tools Required: MAF sensor cleaner, screwdriver.
  • Locate the MAF sensor in the air intake system.
  • Disconnect the electrical connector and unscrew the sensor.
  • Use MAF sensor cleaner to spray and clean the sensor gently.
  • Allow it to dry completely before reinstalling.
5. Test and Replace Fuel Filter (if necessary)
  • Tools Required: Wrenches, fuel line disconnect tool, clean rags.
  • Locate the fuel filter and relieve fuel pressure by removing the fuel pump relay.
  • Disconnect the fuel lines using a fuel line disconnect tool and catch any fuel in rags.
  • Remove the old fuel filter and install the new one, ensuring correct flow direction.
  • Reconnect fuel lines and fuel pump relay.
