Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather tools and parts needed for the replacement.
  • Disconnect the negative battery terminal to ensure safety.
2. Access the Fuel Pump
  • Relieve fuel system pressure by removing the fuel pump fuse and running the engine until it stalls.
  • Raise the vehicle using a jack and secure it with jack stands.
  • Remove the access panel (if equipped) or the fuel tank to gain access to the fuel pump.
3. Remove the Old Fuel Pump
  • Disconnect the electrical connectors from the fuel pump.
  • Remove any retaining screws or clips holding the fuel pump in place.
  • Carefully pull the fuel pump out of the fuel tank, taking care not to damage the fuel sender unit.
4. Install the New Fuel Pump
  • Lubricate the O-ring on the new fuel pump with clean engine oil.
  • Insert the new fuel pump into the fuel tank, ensuring it is seated properly.
  • Reattach retaining screws or clips to secure the pump in place.
  • Connect the electrical connectors to the new fuel pump.
5. Reassemble and Test
  • Reinstall the access panel or secure the fuel tank back in place.
  • Reconnect the fuel pump fuse and the negative battery terminal.
  • Turn the ignition key to the "ON" position (without starting) to prime the fuel system and check for leaks.
