Solution
1. Preparation
  • Tools Required: Flathead screwdriver, small Phillips screwdriver, new battery (CR2032), OBD-II scanner (if needed).
  • Ensure the vehicle is in a safe location and turn off the ignition.
  • Disconnect the battery if working on the vehicle's electrical system to prevent any accidental shorts.
2. Replace Key Fob Battery
  1. Locate the tiny slot on the side of the key fob.
  2. Insert a flathead screwdriver into the slot and gently twist to pry open the fob.
  3. Remove the old battery and replace it with a new CR2032 battery, ensuring the positive (+) side is facing up.
  4. Reassemble the key fob by snapping the two halves back together securely.
3. Reprogram Key Fob (if needed)
  1. Insert the key into the ignition and turn it to the "ON" position without starting the engine.
  2. Press and hold the "LOCK" button on the key fob for about 5 seconds.
  3. Turn the ignition back to the "OFF" position and remove the key.
  4. Test the key fob for functionality by pressing the lock and unlock buttons.
4. Verify Signal and Interference
  1. Use a second working key fob to determine if the issue lies with the original fob.
  2. Move away from electronic devices like phones or Wi-Fi routers to test if interference is affecting the key fob's signal.
