Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather necessary tools and parts.
  • Disconnect the battery to ensure safety during repair.
  • Ensure the vehicle is on a level surface and lift it using a jack and jack stands.
2. Drain Transmission Fluid
  • Tools Required: Drain pan, socket set, torque wrench.
  • Locate the transmission fluid drain plug.
  • Place the drain pan under the drain plug and remove the plug using the socket set. Allow the fluid to completely drain.
3. Remove and Inspect Seals/Gaskets
  • Tools Required: Gasket scraper, torque wrench.
  • Remove any components obstructing access to the CVT housing if necessary (e.g., heat shields).
  • Inspect the input and output shaft seals, as well as the transmission pan gasket.
  • If damaged, remove the old seals/gaskets using the gasket scraper.
4. Replace Seals/Gaskets
  • Apply a thin layer of gasket maker (if applicable) on the transmission pan or housing.
  • Install new seals and gaskets ensuring they are seated properly.
  • Reassemble any components removed earlier and torque to the manufacturer’s specifications.
5. Refill Transmission Fluid
  • Tools Required: Funnel, new CVT fluid as specified in the owner's manual.
  • Replace the drain plug and torque it to specifications.
  • Use a funnel to refill the CVT with new transmission fluid until it reaches the proper level as indicated by the dipstick.
6. Test for Leaks
  • Reconnect the battery.
  • Start the engine and allow it to reach operating temperature.
  • Check for leaks around the transmission housing and seals.
