Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather necessary tools and parts.
  • Park the vehicle on a level surface and engage the parking brake.
  • Disconnect the negative terminal of the battery to ensure safety.
2. Inspect and Replace Power Steering Fluid
  • Remove the power steering fluid reservoir cap.
  • Check the fluid level; if it is low, top it off with the manufacturer-recommended fluid type.
  • If the fluid is dirty or contaminated, drain and replace it:
    1. Attach a siphon pump to drain old fluid.
    2. Refill with new fluid and run the engine for a few minutes to circulate.
3. Check and Replace CV Joints (if necessary)
  • Lift the front of the vehicle and secure it on jack stands.
  • Inspect CV joints for torn boots or damage:
    • If damaged, remove the wheel and the axle nut.
    • Disconnect the CV joint from the steering knuckle and slide out the axle.
    • Replace with a new CV joint and reassemble in reverse order.
4. Inspect and Replace Wheel Bearings (if necessary)
  • While the vehicle is lifted, grasp each wheel and check for play:
    • If play is detected, remove the brake caliper and rotor.
    • Remove the hub assembly and replace the wheel bearing using a press if needed.
    • Reassemble and torque all components to manufacturer specifications.
5. Reassemble and Test
  • Reinstall all removed components, including wheels, calipers, and any covers.
  • Reconnect the battery terminal and lower the vehicle.
  • Test drive to ensure the grinding noise has ceased.
