Solution
1. Preparation
  • Ensure the vehicle is parked on a level surface and the engine is off.
  • Disconnect the negative battery terminal for safety.
  • Gather necessary tools and replacement parts.
2. Inspect and Clean the Throttle Body
  • Remove the air intake duct to access the throttle body.
  • Use throttle body cleaner and a soft cloth to clean the throttle plate and housing.
  • Reinstall the air intake duct securely.
3. Replace Spark Plugs
  • Remove the ignition coils by unscrewing them from the cylinder head.
  • Disconnect the electrical connectors from the coils.
  • Remove old spark plugs using a spark plug socket.
  • Install new spark plugs, ensuring they are gapped to manufacturer specifications (usually around 0.028-0.032 inches).
  • Reinstall the ignition coils and reconnect the electrical connectors.
4. Test and Replace Idle Air Control Valve (if necessary)
  • Disconnect the IAC valve electrical connector.
  • Remove the IAC valve from the intake manifold.
  • Inspect for carbon buildup and clean if needed; otherwise, replace with a new IAC valve.
  • Reinstall the IAC valve and reconnect the electrical connector.
5. Reconnect Battery and Clear Codes
  • Reconnect the negative battery terminal.
  • Use the OBD-II scanner to clear any error codes that were logged.
  • Start the engine and let it idle to check if the rough idle issue is resolved.
