Solution
1. Preparation
  • Tools Required: Jack and jack stands, socket set, torque wrench, tie rod end puller, and grease.
  • Ensure the vehicle is on a flat surface and secure it with wheel chocks. Disconnect the battery if necessary for safety.
2. Raise the Vehicle
  • Use a jack to lift the front of the vehicle and secure it with jack stands. Ensure the vehicle is stable before proceeding.
3. Remove the Wheel
  • Remove the lug nuts using a socket set and take off the front wheel to access the tie rod ends.
4. Disconnect Tie Rod Ends
  • Locate the tie rod ends and use a tie rod end puller to separate them from the steering knuckle.
    • Sub-step: If necessary, remove the cotter pin and nut before using the puller.
  • Carefully detach the tie rod ends from both sides.
5. Inspect and Replace
  • Inspect the old tie rod ends for wear. If worn, install new tie rod ends.
    • Sub-step: Apply grease to the new tie rod ends before installation.
  • Reattach the tie rod ends to the steering knuckle and secure with the nut. Use a torque wrench to tighten to manufacturer specifications.
6. Reattach Wheel and Lower Vehicle
  • Reinstall the wheel and hand-tighten the lug nuts. Lower the vehicle and then fully torque the lug nuts in a crisscross pattern.
