Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather necessary tools and parts.
  • Disconnect the negative battery terminal to prevent electrical shorts.
  • Relieve fuel system pressure by removing the fuel pump fuse and running the engine until it stalls.
2. Remove Fuel Injectors
  • Tools Required: Socket set, fuel line removal tool
  • Remove the engine cover if applicable.
  • Disconnect the electrical connectors from the fuel injectors.
  • Using the fuel line removal tool, detach the fuel lines from the injectors.
  • Unbolt the fuel rail from the intake manifold and gently pull the fuel injectors out of the rail.
3. Clean Fuel Injectors
  • Tools Required: Ultrasonic cleaner (optional), injector cleaning kit, cleaning solvent
  • Place the injectors in an ultrasonic cleaner with a suitable cleaning solvent if available; otherwise, use an injector cleaning kit.
  • Follow the injector cleaning kit instructions for proper usage, typically involving cycling the injectors with the cleaning solvent.
  • Allow the injectors to soak for the recommended time to dissolve carbon deposits.
4. Reinstall Fuel Injectors
  • Install cleaned injectors back into the fuel rail, making sure O-rings are lubricated with engine oil to ensure a proper seal.
  • Bolt the fuel rail back onto the intake manifold and reconnect the fuel lines.
  • Reconnect the electrical connectors to the injectors.
5. Final Checks
  • Reinstall the fuel pump fuse and reconnect the negative battery terminal.
  • Turn the ignition to the "ON" position without starting the engine to prime the fuel system and check for leaks around the injectors.
  • Start the engine and let it idle while monitoring for any irregularities.
