Solution
1. Preparation
  • Tools Required:
    • Oil filter wrench
    • Socket set
    • Torque wrench
    • Oil catch pan
    • Funnel
    • Clean rags
    • Jack and jack stands (if necessary)
  • Parts Required:
    • Engine oil (recommended type and quantity)
    • New oil filter
  • Safety Warnings:
    • Ensure the engine is cool before starting.
    • Use jack stands to secure the vehicle if lifted.
2. Drain Old Oil
  • Raise the vehicle using a jack and secure it with jack stands.
  • Locate the oil drain plug under the vehicle; it is typically at the lowest point of the oil pan.
  • Place the oil catch pan under the drain plug and remove the plug using a socket wrench.
  • Allow the old oil to completely drain into the pan.
  • Replace the drain plug once the oil has fully drained; torque it to the manufacturer’s specified value (usually around 25 Nm).
3. Replace Oil Filter
  • Locate the oil filter, which is usually accessible from the top or bottom of the engine.
  • Use an oil filter wrench to loosen and remove the old oil filter. Ensure the rubber O-ring comes off with it.
  • Prepare the new oil filter by applying a small amount of new oil to the rubber O-ring.
  • Install the new oil filter by hand-tightening it until snug, then give it a slight additional turn (do not overtighten).
4. Add New Oil
  • Remove the oil filler cap located on the top of the engine.
  • Using a funnel, pour in the new engine oil according to the specified capacity in the owner's manual.
  • Replace the oil filler cap securely.
5. Check Oil Level
  • Start the engine and let it run for a few minutes to circulate the new oil.
  • Turn off the engine and wait a minute, then check the oil level using the dipstick.
  • Add more oil if necessary until the correct level is reached.
6. Clean Up
  • Dispose of the old oil and oil filter according to local regulations.
  • Clean any spills and ensure all tools are removed from the engine bay.
