Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather all necessary tools and parts.
  • Disconnect the vehicle battery to avoid any electrical issues during repair.
  • Allow the vehicle to cool down if recently driven.
2. Recharge the AC System
  1. Connect the refrigerant recovery machine to the low and high-pressure service ports.
  2. Recover any remaining refrigerant according to EPA guidelines.
  3. Perform a vacuum test to check for leaks; hold vacuum for at least 15 minutes.
  4. If no leaks are detected, refill the system with the proper type and amount of refrigerant (R134a or R1234yf, depending on the model).
  5. Start the engine and turn on the AC to maximum to check for proper operation.
3. Replace Cabin Air Filter
  1. Locate the cabin air filter access panel, usually behind the glove box.
  2. Remove the screws or clips securing the panel and take it off.
  3. Slide the old cabin air filter out and inspect for dirt and obstructions.
  4. Insert the new cabin air filter (ensure correct orientation) and reattach the access panel.
4. Inspect and Replace AC Compressor (if necessary)
  1. Remove the serpentine belt by loosening the tensioner pulley.
  2. Disconnect the electrical connector from the AC compressor.
  3. Remove the refrigerant lines from the compressor (ensure proper recovery procedures).
  4. Unbolt the compressor from its mounting bracket and remove it.
  5. Install the new AC compressor in reverse order, ensuring all connections are tight.
  6. Reconnect the refrigerant lines and electrical connector to the new compressor.
