Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather all necessary tools and parts.
  • Park the vehicle on a flat surface and engage the parking brake.
  • Raise the front of the vehicle using a jack and secure it with jack stands.
2. Remove Wheel
  • Use a lug wrench to remove the wheel from the side where the ball joint is being replaced.
  • Keep the lug nuts in a safe place for reinstallation.
3. Remove Old Ball Joint
  • Tools Required: Socket set, ball joint separator, hammer
  • Locate the ball joint assembly.
  • Use the socket set to remove the nuts securing the ball joint to the control arm and steering knuckle.
  • Use the ball joint separator to disconnect the ball joint from the steering knuckle. Tap gently with a hammer if necessary.
4. Install New Ball Joint
  • Grease the new ball joint if required, following the manufacturer's instructions.
  • Position the new ball joint in the control arm and secure it with the nuts removed earlier.
  • Torque the nuts to the manufacturer's specifications.
5. Reassemble and Lower Vehicle
  • Reattach the steering knuckle to the new ball joint and secure it.
  • Replace the wheel and hand-tighten the lug nuts.
  • Lower the vehicle back to the ground and torque the lug nuts to the specified value.
