Solution
1. Preparation
  • Tools Required: Jack, jack stands, wheel chocks, socket set, torque wrench, strut spring compressor, and impact wrench.
  • Ensure the vehicle is parked on a level surface and engage the parking brake.
  • Disconnect the battery to ensure safety during the process.
2. Raise the Vehicle
  • Use the jack to lift the vehicle and secure it on jack stands.
  • Remove the front or rear wheels where struts will be replaced.
3. Remove Strut Assembly
  • Front Struts:

    1. Disconnect the brake line bracket from the strut.
    2. Remove the sway bar link from the strut.
    3. Unscrew the top strut mount nuts from the engine bay.
    4. Remove the lower strut bolts from the spindle assembly.
  • Rear Struts:

    1. Remove the lower bolts connecting the strut to the rear knuckle.
    2. Unscrew the top nuts from the strut tower inside the trunk.
4. Replace Strut
  1. Use a strut spring compressor to safely compress the coil spring on the old strut.
  2. Remove the top mount and spring from the old strut.
  3. Install the spring onto the new strut and secure it with the top mount.
  4. Ensure all components are torqued to manufacturer specifications (consult the service manual for torque values).
5. Reinstall Strut Assembly
  • Position the new strut assembly back into its place.
  • Secure the lower strut bolts and top mount nuts, ensuring proper torque.
  • Reconnect any brackets and sway bar links.
6. Reassemble Vehicle
  • Reinstall the wheels and lower the vehicle.
  • Reconnect the battery.
