Solution
1. Preparation
  • Ensure the vehicle is parked on a flat surface and the engine is off.
  • Gather tools and parts needed for the repair.
2. Identify the Leak Source
  • Use the UV dye method if necessary to confirm the leaking component.
  • Clean any old fluid from the area to ensure a clear inspection.
3. Replace Leaking Components

A. Power Steering Hoses

  1. Disconnect the battery.
    • Remove the negative terminal using a socket wrench.
  2. Remove the damaged hose.
    • Use a wrench to loosen the hose clamps and disconnect the hose from the power steering pump and steering rack.
  3. Install the new hose.
    • Attach the new hose and secure it with clamps to the power steering pump and steering rack.
    • Ensure that the connections are tight to prevent future leaks.

B. Power Steering Pump (if necessary)

  1. Remove the power steering pump.
    • Disconnect any electrical connectors and remove the bolts holding the pump in place.
    • Take out the pump and inspect for leaks.
  2. Install the new power steering pump.
    • Position the new pump in place and secure it with bolts.
    • Reconnect any electrical connectors.
  3. Reattach fluid lines.
    • Connect the hoses back to the pump and torque to manufacturer specifications.
4. Refill Power Steering Fluid
  1. Add the appropriate power steering fluid.
    • Use Honda Genuine Power Steering Fluid or equivalent.
  2. Bleed the system.
    • Start the engine and turn the steering wheel fully left and right several times to remove air bubbles from the system.
5. Final Inspection
  • Check for leaks around the repaired areas after the fluid has been added and the system has been bled.
  • Ensure all tools are removed from the engine bay and the battery is reconnected.
