Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather necessary tools and parts.
  • Ensure the vehicle is parked on a flat surface and the parking brake is engaged.
2. Remove the Tire
  • Tools Required: Jack, jack stands, lug wrench.
  • Instructions:
    1. Loosen the lug nuts with the lug wrench while the tire is still on the ground.
    2. Jack up the vehicle and secure it with jack stands.
    3. Remove the lug nuts completely and take off the tire.
3. Repair the Puncture
  • Tools Required: Tire plug kit or patch kit, tire levers, air compressor.
  • Instructions:
    1. If using a tire plug kit, locate the puncture and use the reaming tool to clean the hole.
    2. Insert the tire plug into the insertion tool and push it into the hole until about two-thirds of it is in the tire.
    3. Pull the insertion tool out, leaving the plug in the tire.
    4. Trim any excess plug material flush with the tire surface if necessary.
    5. If using a patch kit, clean the area around the puncture and apply rubber cement, then place the patch over the puncture and press firmly.
4. Reinstall the Tire
  • Tools Required: Lug wrench, torque wrench.
  • Instructions:
    1. Place the tire back onto the wheel hub.
    2. Hand-tighten the lug nuts on the wheel.
    3. Lower the vehicle back to the ground and use the torque wrench to tighten the lug nuts to the manufacturer’s specifications (typically 80-100 ft-lbs for Honda Pilot).
5. Inflate the Tire
  • Tools Required: Air compressor.
  • Instructions:
    1. Inflate the tire to the recommended pressure (usually found in the driver's door jamb).
    2. Check for leaks again with soapy water after inflating.
