Solution
1. Preparation
  • Tools Required: Socket set, torque wrench, ratchet, spark plug socket, extension bar, dielectric grease.
  • Ensure the engine is cool to avoid burns.
  • Disconnect the negative battery terminal to prevent any electrical shorts.
2. Remove Engine Cover (if applicable)
  • Locate the bolts securing the engine cover.
  • Use a socket wrench to remove the bolts.
  • Gently lift off the engine cover and set it aside.
3. Remove Spark Plug Wires/Ignition Coils
  • For spark plug wires: Grasp the boot of each wire and pull straight out to avoid damaging the wire.
  • For ignition coils: Unplug the electrical connector on each coil, then remove the bolts securing the coils using a socket wrench. Pull the coils straight up to remove them.
4. Remove Old Spark Plugs
  • Use a spark plug socket and ratchet to loosen and remove the old spark plugs by turning counter-clockwise.
  • Inspect the removed spark plugs for wear or damage.
5. Install New Spark Plugs
  • Apply a small amount of dielectric grease to the threads of the new spark plugs to prevent seizing.
  • Carefully thread the new spark plugs into the cylinder head by hand to avoid cross-threading.
  • Use a torque wrench to tighten the spark plugs to the manufacturer’s specified torque (typically around 13 lb-ft for Honda).
6. Reinstall Ignition Coils/Spark Plug Wires
  • For ignition coils: Place each coil over its respective spark plug and secure it with bolts. Reconnect the electrical connectors.
  • For spark plug wires: Push each wire boot firmly onto the corresponding spark plug until it clicks into place.
7. Reinstall Engine Cover (if applicable)
  • Align the engine cover and secure it with the previously removed bolts.
  • Ensure all bolts are tightened to the manufacturer’s specifications.
8. Reconnect Battery
  • Reconnect the negative battery terminal and ensure it is secured.
