Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather necessary tools and parts.
  • Ensure the vehicle is parked on a level surface and secure it with wheel chocks.
  • Wear safety gloves and goggles to protect against brake fluid.
2. Remove Old Brake Fluid
  • Tools Required: Brake fluid pump or turkey baster, clean rags
  • Use a brake fluid pump or turkey baster to remove old fluid from the brake fluid reservoir.
  • Wipe the inside of the reservoir with a clean rag to remove any residue.
3. Refill with New Brake Fluid
  • Parts Required: New brake fluid (DOT 3 or DOT 4, as specified in the owner’s manual)
  • Refill the reservoir with fresh brake fluid to the maximum fill line. Do not overfill.
4. Bleed the Brake System
  • Tools Required: Brake bleeder kit, socket wrench, and a helper (optional)
  • Start with the brake farthest from the master cylinder (usually the rear passenger side).
    1. Attach the brake bleeder kit to the brake caliper.
    2. Have an assistant pump the brake pedal several times and hold it down.
    3. Open the bleeder valve to allow old fluid and air to escape, then close it before your assistant releases the pedal.
    4. Repeat until clear, bubble-free fluid flows from the bleeder, then tighten the valve.
    5. Repeat the process for the remaining brakes in the following order: rear driver side, front passenger side, and finally front driver side.
5. Final Checks
  • Check the brake fluid reservoir again to ensure it is at the proper level after bleeding the system.
  • Clean any spilled brake fluid immediately, as it can damage paint and other surfaces.
