Solution
1. Preparation
  • Tools Required: OBD-II scanner, socket set, screwdrivers, throttle body cleaner, rags, safety goggles, gloves.
  • Ensure the engine is cool before starting the cleaning process.
  • Disconnect the negative battery terminal for safety.
2. Remove Intake Duct
  1. Use a screwdriver or socket set to loosen the clamps holding the intake duct to the throttle body.
  2. Carefully detach the duct from the throttle body and set it aside.
3. Disconnect Electrical Connectors
  1. Locate the electrical connector for the throttle position sensor (TPS).
  2. Press the release tab and gently pull the connector off.
4. Clean the Throttle Body
  1. Use throttle body cleaner and a clean rag or brush to remove carbon buildup inside the throttle body.
    • Spray the cleaner directly onto the throttle body’s interior surfaces.
    • Use a soft brush to scrub away heavy deposits.
  2. Ensure the throttle plate is cleaned thoroughly without damaging it.
  3. Wipe away any excess cleaner and debris using a clean rag.
5. Reassemble Components
  1. Reconnect the electrical connector to the throttle position sensor securely.
  2. Reattach the intake duct to the throttle body, ensuring a tight seal.
  3. Tighten the clamps to secure the duct in place.
6. Reconnect Battery and Test
  1. Reconnect the negative battery terminal.
  2. Start the engine and let it idle for a few minutes to allow the engine control unit (ECU) to recalibrate.
