Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather necessary tools and parts.
  • Ensure the vehicle is in a well-ventilated area.
  • Disconnect the vehicle battery for safety.
2. Replace Key Fob Battery
  • Tools Required: Small flathead screwdriver or coin.
  • Remove the back cover of the key fob using the screwdriver or coin.
  • Take out the old battery, noting its orientation.
  • Insert a new CR2032 battery (or as specified by the owner’s manual) in the same orientation as the old one.
  • Reattach the back cover securely.
3. Inspect Key Fob
  • Visually inspect the key fob for cracks, water damage, or worn buttons.
  • If physical damage is evident, consider replacing the key fob.
4. Reprogram Key Fob
  • Tools Required: OBD-II scanner (if needed).
  • Sit in the vehicle and close all doors.
  • Insert the key into the ignition and turn it to the "ON" position (not starting the engine).
  • Turn the key back to the "OFF" position and remove it.
  • Press and hold the "Lock" button on the key fob for about 5 seconds.
  • Turn the ignition key to "ON" and back to "OFF" twice.
  • Finally, turn the ignition to "ON" again; the locks should cycle, indicating successful programming.
5. Check Vehicle Receiver
  • If the key fob is still unresponsive, diagnose the vehicle’s keyless entry receiver.
  • Locate the receiver unit (usually found behind the dashboard or near the steering column).
  • Inspect wiring and connections for signs of damage or corrosion.
  • Repair or replace any damaged components.
