Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather all necessary tools and parts.
  • Disconnect the battery to avoid electrical shock.
  • Ensure the vehicle is on a level surface and has cooled down.
2. Access Fuel Level Sending Unit
  • Tools Required: Socket set, screwdriver, safety glasses.
  • Remove the rear seat or access panel to reach the fuel pump assembly.
  • Disconnect the electrical connector from the fuel pump.
  • Unscrew and remove the fuel pump assembly from the tank.
3. Inspect and Test Fuel Level Sender
  • Using a multimeter, test the resistance of the fuel level sender.
    • If resistance is outside of manufacturer specifications, replace the sender.
  • Visually inspect the sender for corrosion or damage.
4. Replace Fuel Level Sending Unit (if needed)
  • If the sending unit is faulty:
    • Remove the old sending unit from the fuel pump assembly.
    • Install the new sending unit into the pump assembly.
    • Reinstall the fuel pump assembly back into the tank.
5. Reassemble and Connect
  • Reconnect the electrical connector to the fuel pump.
  • Secure the fuel pump assembly and replace any access panels or seats removed.
  • Reconnect the battery.
