Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather all necessary tools and parts.
  • Disconnect the negative terminal of the battery to avoid any electrical shorts.
  • Allow the engine to cool down completely before beginning work.
2. Remove Engine Cover (if applicable)
  • Tools Required: Socket set
  • Remove any screws or bolts securing the engine cover.
  • Carefully lift off the engine cover and set it aside.
3. Access the Spark Plugs
  • Tools Required: Ratchet and extension
  • Locate the ignition coils on top of the engine, typically there will be one coil for each spark plug.
  • Disconnect the electrical connectors from each ignition coil by pressing the tab and pulling them off.
4. Remove Ignition Coils
  • Tools Required: Ratchet with appropriate socket
  • Unbolt the ignition coils using the ratchet and socket.
  • Gently pull each ignition coil out of its respective spark plug hole.
5. Remove Old Spark Plugs
  • Tools Required: Spark plug socket and ratchet
  • Use the spark plug socket to carefully unscrew the old spark plugs from the engine.
  • Inspect the old spark plugs for condition and compare them to new ones to confirm they need replacement.
6. Install New Spark Plugs
  • Tools Required: Spark plug socket and torque wrench
  • Apply a small amount of anti-seize compound on the threads of the new spark plugs.
  • Hand-tighten each new spark plug into the hole and then use a torque wrench to tighten to the manufacturer’s specified torque (typically around 13-15 lb-ft).
7. Reinstall Ignition Coils
  • Tools Required: Ratchet and socket
  • Insert each ignition coil back into position over its respective spark plug.
  • Re-bolt each ignition coil securely.
  • Reconnect the electrical connectors to each ignition coil.
8. Reinstall Engine Cover (if applicable)
  • Place the engine cover back onto the engine and secure it with the previously removed screws or bolts.
9. Reconnect Battery
  • Reconnect the negative terminal of the battery.
