Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather the necessary tools and parts.
  • Ensure the engine is cool and the vehicle is parked on a flat surface.
  • Gather safety gear including gloves and safety glasses.
2. Gather Tools and Parts
  • Tools Required:

    • Socket set
    • Oil filter wrench
    • Funnel
    • Oil drain pan
    • Torque wrench
    • Rags or paper towels
  • Parts Required:

    • Engine oil (5W-20 or as specified in the owner's manual)
    • Oil filter (specific to Honda CR-V model)
    • Washer for the drain plug (if needed)
3. Drain Old Oil
  1. Lift the vehicle using ramps or a jack and secure with jack stands.
  2. Place the oil drain pan under the oil pan.
  3. Remove the drain plug using the socket set and allow the old oil to fully drain into the pan.
  4. Replace the drain plug and tighten it to the manufacturer's torque specification (usually around 30 ft-lbs).
4. Replace Oil Filter
  1. Locate the oil filter (usually on the side or bottom of the engine).
  2. Use the oil filter wrench to remove the old oil filter. Be cautious of any residual oil.
  3. Apply a small amount of new oil to the rubber gasket of the new filter.
  4. Install the new oil filter by hand until snug, then tighten it an additional 3/4 turn.
5. Add New Oil
  1. Open the hood and locate the oil filler cap on top of the engine.
  2. Remove the oil filler cap and place a funnel in the opening.
  3. Pour the new oil into the engine, using the amount specified in the owner's manual (usually around 4.5 quarts).
  4. Replace the oil filler cap securely.
6. Check Oil Level
  1. Start the engine and let it run for a minute, allowing the oil to circulate.
  2. Turn off the engine and wait a moment, then check the oil level with the dipstick.
  3. Add more oil if necessary to reach the full mark on the dipstick.
