1. Preparation
  • Tools Required: Jack, jack stands, lug wrench, socket set, torque wrench, ball joint separator, grease gun.
  • Ensure the vehicle is on a flat surface and engage the parking brake.
  • Disconnect the battery if necessary for electrical safety.
2. Lift the Vehicle
  • Loosen the lug nuts on the front wheels slightly while the vehicle is on the ground.
  • Use a jack to lift the front of the vehicle.
  • Secure the vehicle with jack stands for safety.
3. Remove Wheel

  • Press the new ball joint into place using a ball joint press or follow the specific removal instructions in reverse.
  • Reattach the castle nut and tighten it to the manufacturer's torque specifications.
  • Insert a new cotter pin to secure the castle nut.
6. Reassemble and Lower Vehicle
  • Reinstall the wheel and hand-tighten the lug nuts.
  • Lower the vehicle off the jack stands and onto the ground.
  • Torque the lug nuts to the manufacturer's specifications.
7. Final Checks
  • Reconnect the battery if it was disconnected.
