Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather tools and parts required for the repair.
  • Disconnect the battery to prevent electrical shorts while working on the vehicle.
  • Allow the engine to cool before beginning work.
2. Address Faulty Spark Plugs/Ignition Coils
  • Remove Engine Cover: Use a socket set to remove bolts securing the engine cover and carefully lift it off.
  • Remove Spark Plug Wires: Gently pull off the ignition coil connectors, ensuring to label them for reinstallation.
  • Replace Spark Plugs:
    • Use a spark plug socket to remove old spark plugs.
    • Inspect the spark plugs for wear; replace with new plugs if necessary (Manufacturer specs: NGK or Denso plugs recommended).
    • Torque new spark plugs to 13 lb-ft.
  • Reinstall Ignition Coils: Place ignition coils back onto the spark plugs and reconnect the wires.
3. Clean Throttle Body
  • Remove Air Intake Hose: Loosen the clamps and remove the air intake hose connected to the throttle body.
  • Clean Throttle Body:
    • Use throttle body cleaner and a soft brush to clean the throttle plate and surrounding areas.
    • Ensure the throttle plate can open and close freely.
  • Reattach Air Intake Hose: Secure the hose back in place with clamps.
4. Inspect and Replace Fuel Filter (if applicable)
  • Locate Fuel Filter: Depending on the model, it may be inside the fuel tank or along the fuel line.
  • Relieve Fuel Pressure: Remove the fuel pump fuse and start the engine until it stalls to relieve pressure.
  • Replace Fuel Filter: Disconnect fuel lines and replace the old filter with a new one, ensuring proper orientation (inlet and outlet).
  • Reconnect Fuel Pump Fuse: Replace the fuse and check for leaks.
