Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather tools and parts required for the repair.
  • Ensure the vehicle is parked on a level surface, and the parking brake is engaged.
  • Disconnect the battery to avoid any electrical issues.
2. Remove Wheel
  • Loosen the lug nuts on the front wheel using a lug wrench.
  • Lift the vehicle with a jack and secure it with jack stands.
  • Completely remove the lug nuts and take off the wheel.
3. Remove Old Ball Joint
  • Locate the ball joint assembly on the control arm.
  • Remove the cotter pin and nut securing the ball joint to the steering knuckle.
  • Use a ball joint separator tool to carefully detach the ball joint from the knuckle.
  • Remove any bolts or fasteners holding the ball joint to the control arm.
  • Carefully take out the old ball joint.
4. Install New Ball Joint
  • Place the new ball joint into the control arm.
  • Secure it with the appropriate bolts and torque them to the manufacturer’s specifications.
  • Reattach the ball joint to the steering knuckle, securing it with a new nut and cotter pin.
5. Reassemble
  • Replace the wheel and hand-tighten the lug nuts.
  • Lower the vehicle back to the ground and fully tighten the lug nuts in a crisscross pattern to the specified torque.
  • Reconnect the battery.
