Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather all necessary tools and parts.
  • Ensure the engine is cool before beginning work.
  • Disconnect the negative battery terminal to prevent electrical shorts.
2. Check Engine Oil
  • Remove the oil filler cap.
  • Inspect the oil level using the dipstick; top off or change oil if it is low or dirty.
  • Use the manufacturer-recommended oil type (typically 0W-20 or 5W-20).
3. Replace VVT Solenoid
  • Tools Required: Socket set, torque wrench, ratchet.
  • Remove the engine cover to access the VVT solenoid.
  • Disconnect the electrical connector from the solenoid.
  • Remove the bolts securing the solenoid and take it out.
  • Install the new VVT solenoid and torque the bolts to the manufacturer's specifications (usually around 10 Nm).
  • Reconnect the electrical connector and replace the engine cover.
4. Clear Codes and Test
  • Reconnect the negative battery terminal.
  • Use the OBD-II scanner to clear the P0021 code.
  • Start the engine and allow it to reach operating temperature, then check for any reoccurrence of the code.
