Solution
1. Preparation
  • Park the vehicle on a level surface and turn off the engine.
  • Allow the engine to cool down completely.
  • Gather necessary tools and parts.
2. Identify the Leak Source
  • Clean the area around the suspected leak with a degreaser.
  • Use a UV dye in the oil and run the engine for a short period. Use a UV light to identify the leak's source.
3. Replace Gaskets or Seals
  • Valve Cover Gasket Replacement:

    • Remove any engine covers obstructing access.
    • Disconnect electrical connectors and vacuum hoses as necessary.
    • Remove the valve cover bolts and gently lift the cover off.
    • Clean the mating surfaces and replace the old gasket with a new one.
    • Reinstall the valve cover and torque the bolts to the manufacturer's specifications.
  • Oil Pan Gasket Replacement:

    • Drain the engine oil into a clean container and remove the oil drain plug.
    • Remove the oil pan bolts and carefully detach the oil pan.
    • Clean the oil pan and the engine block surface.
    • Install a new oil pan gasket and reattach the oil pan, torquing the bolts to specification.
  • Front and Rear Main Seal Replacement:

    • For the front main seal, remove the timing cover and replace the seal.
    • For the rear main seal, remove the transmission, clean the area, and replace the seal.
4. Replace Oil Filter and Oil
  • Remove the old oil filter using an oil filter wrench.
  • Install a new oil filter, lubricating the rubber gasket with a bit of new oil.
  • Refill the engine with the appropriate type and amount of oil as specified in the owner’s manual.
