Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather the required tools and parts.
  • Disconnect the negative battery terminal to ensure safety.
2. Access the Fuel Level Sending Unit
  • Tools Required: Socket set, screwdrivers, fuel line removal tool (if necessary).
  • Lift the rear seat cushion to access the fuel pump access panel.
  • Remove the access panel screws and lift the panel to expose the fuel pump assembly.
3. Remove the Fuel Pump Assembly
  • Disconnect the electrical connector from the fuel pump.
  • Carefully detach the fuel lines using the fuel line removal tool, ensuring to have a cloth ready to catch any spills.
  • Unscrew the retaining ring holding the fuel pump assembly in place and lift it out of the tank.
4. Inspect and Replace the Fuel Level Sending Unit
  • Tools Required: Multimeter.
  • Check the resistance of the sending unit. If it is outside the manufacturer’s specifications, replace it.
  • If replacing, separate the sending unit from the fuel pump assembly by removing any retaining clips.
  • Install the new sending unit and ensure it is securely attached.
5. Reinstall the Fuel Pump Assembly
  • Place the fuel pump assembly back into the tank.
  • Secure it with the retaining ring, reconnect the fuel lines, and the electrical connector.
  • Reinstall the access panel and secure it with screws.
6. Final Checks
  • Reconnect the negative battery terminal.
  • Start the engine and check for fuel leaks around the assembly.
  • Test the fuel gauge operation to ensure it reads correctly.
