Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather tools and parts.
  • Disconnect the negative battery terminal.
  • Ensure the vehicle is on a flat surface and the steering wheel is centered.
2. Inspect and Replace EPS Fuse
  • Locate the EPS fuse in the under-dash fuse box.
  • Remove the fuse using a fuse puller.
  • Check continuity with a multimeter; replace if necessary.
3. Repair Wiring and Connectors
  • Identify any damaged wiring or corroded connectors.
  • Clean connectors with electrical contact cleaner.
  • Repair or replace any damaged wiring using solder or appropriate connectors.
4. Test and Replace EPS Motor (if necessary)
  • If the EPS motor is faulty, remove it:
    • Disconnect the wiring harness from the EPS motor.
    • Remove the mounting bolts securing the EPS motor to the steering column.
    • Carefully pull the motor out.
  • Install the new EPS motor:
    • Position the new motor in place and secure it with mounting bolts to the specified torque (refer to service manual for torque specifications).
    • Reconnect the wiring harness.
5. Calibration of EPS System
  • Reconnect the negative battery terminal.
  • Use a diagnostic tool to perform an EPS calibration procedure.
  • Follow on-screen prompts to complete the calibration.
