Solution
1. Preparation
  • Tools Required: OBD-II scanner, fuel pressure gauge, multimeter, basic hand tools (screwdrivers, socket set)
  • Safety Warnings: Disconnect the battery before working on electrical systems; relieve fuel system pressure before disconnecting fuel lines.
2. Replace Fuel Pump (if necessary)
  1. Relieve Fuel System Pressure:

    • Remove the fuel pump relay and start the engine until it stalls to relieve pressure.
  2. Disconnect Battery:

    • Remove the negative terminal from the battery to prevent electrical shorts.
  3. Remove Fuel Tank:

    • Safely lift the vehicle using jack stands.
    • Disconnect the fuel filler neck and any other lines connected to the tank.
    • Unbolt and lower the fuel tank carefully.
  4. Remove Old Fuel Pump:

    • Disconnect the fuel lines and electrical connectors from the fuel pump.
    • Remove the retaining ring securing the fuel pump in the tank.
    • Carefully extract the old fuel pump from the tank.
  5. Install New Fuel Pump:

    • Place the new fuel pump into the tank, ensuring proper alignment.
    • Secure it with the retaining ring and reconnect the electrical connectors and fuel lines.
  6. Reassemble Fuel Tank:

    • Raise the fuel tank back into position and reattach the bolts, fuel filler neck, and any disconnected lines.
  7. Reconnect Battery:

    • Reconnect the negative terminal to the battery and reinstall the fuel pump relay.
3. Final Checks
  • Inspect for any fuel leaks around connections and ensure everything is securely fastened.
