Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather Tools and Materials:
    • Oil filter wrench
    • Socket set (usually 17mm for the drain plug)
    • Oil catch pan
    • Funnel
    • New oil filter
    • New engine oil (5W-20 or as specified in the owner's manual)
    • Rags or paper towels
  • Safety Warning: Ensure the engine is completely cool to avoid burns. Park the vehicle on a flat surface and engage the parking brake.
2. Drain Old Oil
  • Place the oil catch pan under the oil pan.
  • Using the socket set, remove the drain plug (turn counterclockwise).
  • Allow the old oil to drain completely into the pan. This may take several minutes.
3. Replace Oil Filter
  • Use the oil filter wrench to loosen and remove the old oil filter.
  • Before installing the new filter, apply a small amount of new oil to the rubber gasket of the new filter to ensure a good seal.
  • Install the new oil filter by hand, tightening it until snug (do not overtighten).
4. Add New Oil
  • Replace the drain plug and tighten it securely (typically around 30 lb-ft torque).
  • Using a funnel, pour the new engine oil into the engine through the oil filler cap. Refer to the owner's manual for the correct oil capacity (usually around 4.4 quarts).
  • Replace the oil filler cap securely.
5. Check Oil Level
  • Start the engine and let it run for a few minutes, then turn it off.
  • Wait a few minutes, then check the oil level using the dipstick. Add more oil if necessary until it reaches the proper level.
